About
On this website I publish my translations of Japanese webnovels. Mostly with author’s consent.
After a bit over month at WordPress, I decided to move here. And I am really loving it here!
Language Knowledge
During the autumn of a certain 201* year, I was learning Japanese simply because was curious after reading some manga. After completing a first course (~350 pages), I have abandoned it for lack of motivation.
Even though at the time of starting my translations I forgot mostly everything, with that piece of knowledge I was able to begin.
That was “Whoa, I’m doing great,” from my point of view… Right. From mine alone.
But my problems with English are also here. So, although I am always doing the best, it is not the best for people in general.
My English knowledge came mostly with watching British and American movies and TV shows, reading fan-translated manga, novels, and lyrics. That all was accompanied by a constant search for unfamiliar words in dictionaries. Well, I never learned English with intention to write myself, just to be able to read and understand it.
Yes, that’s hell not enough. But I am not much motivated to learn neither Japanese nor English any time soon, so that’s that.
Well, with that said, I do learn either of them. While working on my translations, reading books, etc. I learn it constantly, bit by bit… Or so I hope.
Services which I use/have used
- wiktionary.org - helps me with both English and Japanese, mostly with English, but with Japanese either
- jisho.org - Japanese translation tool (you—and perhaps I—would not have seen so frequent an updates if not for this amazing tool)
- thejadednetwork.com/sfx - impressive dictionary of totally unfamiliar to me Japanese sfx
- dictionary.goo.ne.jp - kya! it’s just a great dictionary of vocabulary that I could not find anywhere else
- translate.google.com - translation from Japanese, some help with English
- deepl.com - good for quick translations of truly alien to me Japanese dialects and colloquial language
and some other.
